Later Life Partnership NEL Carelink joined forces with two older people charities within North East Lincolnshire – AgeUK and Friendship at Home - to form the Later Life Partnership. The aim of coming together is to share our resources, skills and knowledge of older people and the local landscape and use this to reach more older people who would benefit from local help and support. By reaching more older people, we can become aware of emerging needs and concerns in the community and work with the local authority and others to channel support where it is needed. Our first joint venture was supporting AgeUK to expand their meal delivery service whilst at the same time promoting Friendship at Home’s tablet scheme. Friendship have been given funding by the Lottery and local authority to provide tablets with WIFI to older people to help them keep in touch with groups, services and family. We all recognise this can be a great help for those people unable to get out due to COVID or who are housebound. Using new technology can be confusing though and by coming together, we can offer more resource to enable staff to spend more time going through how to use it, revisiting to ensure people get the hang of it. Our community engagement worker Janet went out delivering meals, talking about the scheme and going back to help older people learn how to use the tablets. The Late Life Partnership have arranged two Advice days in 2023 the last one was in October at Cleethorpes Memorial Centre. We invited many local organisations across the area to promote their services to help vulnerable people across North East Lincolnshire from Meal Delivery Services to Travel Companies. The day was a great success Big Local and Hammond Productions kindly filmed the event. Keep an eye out for future events. If you, or somebody you know would benefit from these services please contact us.
